Questions about treatments
How is my physiotherapy treatment chosen?
Scott will discuss your health history, current concerns, daily activities and goals, then assess your movement and physical function. He will explain which treatment approaches may be suitable and plan care around your individual needs.
Can my treatment include more than one approach?
Yes. A physiotherapy plan may combine exercise, education, movement strategies and other appropriate treatments. The combination depends on your assessment and can change as your needs and goals change.
What is Finch Therapy?
Finch Therapy uses an assessment and individual corrective exercise program focused on muscular imbalances and movement. Scott can explain whether it is appropriate for you after assessing your concerns. You can learn more about Finch Therapy.
When might strength, balance or range of movement exercises be used?
These exercises may be selected when an assessment identifies difficulties with strength, stability, joint movement or everyday activities. Scott will choose exercises suited to your capacity and explain how they fit into your treatment plan.
Can physiotherapy be part of rehabilitation before or after surgery?
Yes. Before surgery, physiotherapy may focus on preparing for the physical demands of the procedure. Afterwards, rehabilitation may address movement, strength and daily activities while taking account of your surgeon’s instructions and healing timeframes. Read about pre and post-operative physiotherapy.
How will my treatment plan be reviewed?
Scott will discuss how you are managing your exercises and daily activities, reassess relevant movements and review your goals. He can then adjust the plan, including the exercises or treatment approach, according to your progress and circumstances.
