BlazePods on the Sunshine Coast

BlazePods activities with physiotherapist Scott Baines. Personalised light-based exercises combining movement, coordination and attention as part of your rehabilitation plan.

About BlazePods

BlazePods are wireless, light-up pods that add visual cues to movement activities. Scott uses them within physiotherapy to combine physical exercises with tasks involving attention, reaction and decision-making.

An activity might involve tapping different coloured lights with your left or right hand while maintaining a comfortable standing position. Scott adjusts the placement, timing and instructions to suit your abilities and rehabilitation goals.

The pods are a tool within your individual treatment plan. Scott assesses your needs, explains the activity and reviews your response to decide how to progress it.

What to expect at your appointment

Your appointment begins with Scott assessing your movement, current abilities and rehabilitation goals. If BlazePods are appropriate, he sets up an activity and explains which lights to respond to and how to move.

Activities may involve reaching, tapping or stepping towards a light. Scott can adjust the pod positions, colours, pace and instructions to suit your needs. You will have time to practise and ask questions before the challenge is increased.

Scott observes your movement and responses throughout the session. Where useful, app feedback helps him review your performance alongside the quality and comfort of your movements.

Movement and attention

Scott uses BlazePods to add a thinking task to selected movement exercises. Responding to a light may involve choosing a hand, reaching towards a target or taking a controlled step.

The challenge comes from the activity Scott designs around the pods. He can change the colours, timing, positions and instructions to suit what you are practising, rather than simply asking you to move faster.

Your comfort, movement quality and goals guide the session. Scott reviews how you manage each task and adjusts it within your broader physiotherapy plan.
